Conference Report
XVIII Zjazd Nauczycieli Polonijnych i Komitetów Rodzicielskich
San Francisco, May 22–25, 2026
Austin Polish Society’s Polish Language Class Committee represented by Principal Magda Szatanik-Boudni and Polish language teacher Marta Czyżewska, participated in the XVIII Convention of Polish Teachers and Parent Committees held in San Francisco from May 22 to May 25, 2026.
The conference, organized by the Polish School in Walnut Creek near San Francisco, brought together educators, school administrators, and members of the Polish diaspora community involved in supporting Polish language education abroad. The event offered a wide range of inspiring workshops, discussions, and professional development opportunities for teachers and school representatives.
Distinguished guests included the Polish Minister of National Education, Barbara Nowacka, as well as Consul Generals from across the United States and representatives of the Polish Parliament and Senate.
During the conference, we participated in numerous practical workshops and educational sessions focused on modern teaching methods and classroom engagement. One of the key topics included games and interactive activities designed to motivate students and increase participation during lessons. We also attended workshops dedicated to the use of Artificial Intelligence in education, learning how AI tools can support lesson preparation and improve educational materials.
Another valuable part of the conference focused on school grants and funding opportunities. Sessions provided guidance on grant applications, budgeting, and reporting procedures, helping schools better understand how to manage educational resources effectively.
The convention also created an excellent opportunity to connect with teachers and representatives from Polish schools across the United States. Exchanging experiences, ideas, and best practices allowed us to better understand different approaches to teaching Polish abroad and strengthened cooperation within the Polish educational community.
Overall, the conference was an inspiring and highly valuable professional experience. It significantly contributed to the development of our teaching skills, provided practical tools and new educational ideas, and motivated us to continue improving the quality of APS Polish language classes for children and adults.
