The purpose of this meeting is to discuss a recently discovered serious financial issue concerning Austin Polish Society.
The former Treasurer of APS is alleged to have made numerous unauthorized and unapproved transactions involving APS funds for personal benefit totaling over $72,000 from December 2014 through April 2018. After consulting with legal counsel, the Board immediately removed former treasurer from all APS Bank Accounts, performed an audit and referred the matter to local law enforcement for investigation. Law enforcement concluded its investigation late last week, and made an arrest on Friday, August 3rd, on charges of theft, a third degree felony.
The former treasurer has already paid back $27,300 of the funds taken and will be expected to make full restitution to the organization as a part of the criminal proceeding.
