We are very sorry to inform that the special festival screening planned on Sunday, November 27, it is postponed. New date will be announced soon.
To commemorate the Polish Independence Day, we are presenting a special screening of the historical drama depicting the unique fate of Adam Chmielowski, an artist-painter who, in search of freedom and happiness, sacrifices everything. He took part in the January Insurrection (1863-64), a Polish fight for independence against the Russian empire. The film also shows his friendship with the famous Shakespearean Polish actress Helena Modrzejewska and the painter Józef Chełmoński.
Dr. Ewa Siwak from Texas State University will introduce the film and along with Joanna Sokołowska-Gwizdka, author of the book devoted to Helena Modrzejewska, will be present for the Q&A after the screening.
