This month, Joanna Sokolowska-Gwizdka, the editor-in-chief of the magazine Culture Avenue (cultureave.com), devoted to the Polish culture on emigration, will talk about Helena Modrzejewska who may be known to American audience as Helena Modjeska, a theatre actress, in relation to not only her acting career in US, but also her son, Ralph Modjeski, an engineer and architect who famously designed and built the majority of bridges in America in 1800 and 1900s.
Ms Joanna is an author of the bilingual book about Helena Modjeska: ” What I received from God and from people- a story of Helena Modjeska”. The book will be available for viewing and purchase during the meeting.
We meet to cultivate polish language and talk about history, if your polish level is lower-intermediate or higher, you will be just fine, stop by to just listen or chat. Discussion and group input are welcome and encouraged.
