James Meldrum & Maciej Kassak, clarinet and piano duo, will be back in Austin – their first gig here was in 2014. The Austin Polish Society is happy to host them again and present their exciting program “From Opera to Tango” on July 15. That’s Sunday at 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Austin in the heart of downtown.
The duo has been performing together both on land and at sea since 2012. They have played in such venues as The Baltic Philharmonic Hall in Poland, The Apex and Hay on Wye in the UK, Branoul Theatre in The Netherlands, and of course here in Austin where they also appeared “live” on the classical music radio station KMFA. Their performances at sea took them around the globe on the world’s most luxurious ocean and cruise liners, including The Yachts of Seabourn, Silversea, Viking Ocean Cruises, Holland America Line and Cunard.
In 2013, Meldrum & Kassak released their first CD album “Grenadilla and Ivory” and are currently working on their second album which will include fantastic versions of most loved arias from Verdi’s and Bizet’s operas.
